"Streamlined Crypto", a collaboration between textile artist Anna Nordström and SdVVVorks, is a captivating polyester patchwork measuring 10x20 pixels. The artwork draws inspiration from the Adam Smith Series F £20 note, echoing Smith's iconic illustration of workers in a pin factory—a testament to the division of labor and the resulting surge in productivity. The original note, crafted from a robust blend of cotton and linen rags, boasts eight intricate security features: raised print, metallic thread, a watermark, a holographic strip, an ultra-violet feature, microlettering, specialist printing techniques, and a unique see-through register.
In "Streamlined Crypto," Nordström and SdVVVorks bridges traditional craftsmanship with modern digital security, creating a thought-provoking commentary on value, labor, and technological evolution. "Streamlined Crypto" features an innovative security detail: a 25mm x 25mm washer-dryer safe copper NFC chip, designed to last 50 years, which pairs uniquely with an NFT.
Anna Nordström is a textile artist working with patchwork and quilting. Her works delve into themes of labor, hierarchies, and ideals. In a quote found in the basement of Hedesunda Hembygdsgård it says:
A craft object is not only form and function. It is first and foremost human time that has been saved away from the emptiness our life flows into. In front of his work, man can say 'This is my time, this is me. In another way I do not exist for myself.'
