Flagship Lab #1

After three days in the unknovvvn.

ALT-CIRCUS 4.0

SdVVVorks (SDV = "Strandberg & de Vylder", VVorks = "Works", SdVVVorks = "SDV Works") just presented our first live happening in the shape of a pop up flagship lab super sale. It happened in Södermalm, Stockholm in a beautiful and hidden venue at Hornsgatan 83.

Olle: So... Olle Strandberg Colling. You're one of the founding members of SdVVVorks. Can you tell me briefly about the thing you were doing the other week?
Also Olle: The happening is both a straight forward proposal and weird at the same time. I'm thinking of the concept as a new way to exist as a performing arts company today, and that includes thinking beyond and away from the very performance itself. It's like a gallery presenting new collaborations and releases by local artists, a shop, a performing arts micro festival, a studio and a club. It's somehow about performing co-existence in parallell vvvorld's at the same time. The flagship lab is highly influenced by web 3.0 aesthetics. While focusing on AFK meetings with local audience it's also a happening that invites digital audience to a loyalty program to create new relationships with unknown, and maybe unexpected, peers and potential audience.
Olle: That sounds fun and all...but also a bit over complicated, no? A bit pretentious even? I don't mean to be rude or anything but there must be a much simpler way to explain this concept.
Also Olle: I don't mean to make things more complicated than they are. I'm just writing how I conceive it, and within my way of explaining there's also a creative element. Like...I come up with the things as I write them and what I'm explaining to you is at the same time a narrative in the making. You see? I could say: "it's a shop, and at certain times a juggler juggles." That would be graspable. It wouldn't be more true though. It's just a lame way of saying it. Ok... What I'm trying to say here is that what we are creating is driven by a purpose. I would put even more value in that though and call it a purpo$e. It simple "Believe in art". Right... so If we are creating a shop or a gallery with merch, and artworks, etc we are at the same time doing it as art. As performing arts even. It's not artistic research. It's business as art and within that business there's different art and artifacts...and in the core of the performing arts is of course the meeting with the audience. The business only happens when audience meet the business, and then we use our loyalty program web3 stuff to have fun with audience also between the businesses...or performances..or whatever.
Olle: ...
Also Olle: Lastly I would like to say that 2024.10.03-2024.10.05 was the birth of alt-circus 4.0. We can already let you know that the next iteration of this happening will take place in Södermalm, Stockholm but in another venue. It will happen mid February. Just keep your February calendar more or less empty and make sure to come by.

NEW VVVHATEVER VVVORKS PODCAST EPISODE!

About the episode
Yunchen Sun is a researcher in business studies at Uppsala University. Among his amazing archive of work he's the author of the thesis "Designing Routines for Industrial Digitalization" (2022).

"Industrial digitalization and its promises propel manufacturing firms to pursue digital reality. When changing ways of working, organizational actors often introduce digital artifacts to create a preferred situation where digital technology creates and shapes physical reality. "

Little did we know about this when we started talking with Yunchen about art, digitization of performing arts and our practices. 5 minutes later we hit the record button. This will be the first conversation with Yunchen Sun but more will come for sure. Enjoy the unknovvvn!
